Log in to Power BI Online, if you are not already.

Once a document has been saved, it is possible to import the pbix (not a pbit) file into Power BI online, without using Power BI Desktop.

To clarify the file extension types (.pbit, pbix):

  • .pbit: this file extension is for Power BI Templates, which are available for download in your Tuggers. It does not contain data, nor any references to your data.
  • .pbix: this is the file extension for Power BI Desktop documents. This file will contain your data.

If this is your first-time using Power BI online, then the following screen will be displayed. If for some reason it is not displayed, then select My Workspace.

If you see the following (see image): Select Files > Local File, otherwise see below.

Alternatively (perhaps you have pre-existing Reports in My Workspace) select New, highlighted in the following image.

... Then, navigate down to Upload a file.

A previously shown image (shown below again for clarity) displays what you should see.

Whichever steps you had to follow, you should now be able to select: Local File.

You should now be able to select the file saved at the end of Importing Data Into Power BI Desktop, from "Part Two: Import your Tugger Connector data into Power BI Desktop " of the linked document.

or from one of the Tugger-specific connectors at the end of part two, available here.

You will be advised that Power BI is importing your data.

After a few moments, you should be presented with your reports. If this is your first time importing into Power BI Online then there will be just the one report (containing three entries).

Select the report that is of the Type: Report, as shown below, to view your imported report.

You may notice in the image that there is a pbix file also available; when importing the report in this manner, instead of publishing via Power BI Desktop. The report without a pbix file, was either Published, or had the file removed; hovering around the arrow-indicator allows us to select various options, including delete.

Finally, you should see the reports you exported from Power BI, compiled and formatted by the report template provided by Tugger.
